Two Deadly Accidents Reported In Crawford County
Two deadly accidents were reported in Crawford County over Labor Day weekend.
A California man died while traveling in a tractor trailer and an Illinois man died when he fell off a tailgate.
According to the highway patrol, the first fatal accident occurred Saturday at 5:40 p.m. on Interstate 44 at the 214 mile-marker.
A 2021 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by Gurpreet Singh, 29, Chino, Calif., traveled off the road and struck a guardrail.
The vehicle continued east, striking an embankment wall and overturning.
Jaswant Singh, 31, Fremont, Calif., was a passenger in the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at 8:50 p.m.
Jaswant Singh was not wearing a safety device.
Gurpreet Singh had minor injuries.
Accident At Bass River Resort
The highway patrol said an Illinois man died on Sunday at Bass River Resort in Steelville when he fell off the tailgate of a truck.
The accident occurred at 7:30 p.m.
Matthew Hedrick, 27, Aledo, Ill., was sitting on the tailgate of a 2015 Ford F-150, driven by Joshua Bowen, Bettendort, Iowa.
Bowen failed to negotiate a curve and Hedrick fell to the ground.
He was flown to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur where he was pronounced dead at 9:31 p.m.
