Harney Heritage Day On Saturday

The Harney Mansion Foundation is bringing back Harney Heritage Day this Saturday on the mansion grounds.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and a special Shakespeare in the Park production will take place later that night.

Saturday’s event also serves as a celebration of Missouri’s upcoming bicentennial.

Featured throughout the day will be A Zoo for You petting zoo from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a Proclamation Brass Ensemble at 2 p.m.

Members of the Company M, Turner Brigade and Missouri Volunteers will be encamped on the mansion grounds.

Come see Stan Laubinger’s vintage tools and implements, along with original photos of US General William S. Harney and his summer home.

Harney served as the commander of the St. Louis Arsenal in 1861.

Lavada Schulte will have a vintage clothing display.

Food and beverages are available for purchase.

Shakespeare Festival

The St. Louis Shakespeare Festival is bringing their show on the road to Sullivan at 6:30 p.m. for a presentation of Othello.

This is a free event the company is staging.

No reservations are required.

Six actors will perform an adaption of Shakespeare’s Othello for modern audiences.

The company says the show will provide an “engaging, easy-to-follow performance” for the whole family.

The St. Louis Shakespeare Festival is staging this event in more than 20 parks and public spaces across the bi-state.

The Harney Mansion is located at 332 South Mansion Street in Sullivan.
