Washington Man Arrested n Suspected Drug Dealing Investigation

A Washington man was arrested Jan. 26 as part of an investigation into drug dealing.

Tony Ward, 36, was arrested at Poor Boy Car Wash in Union, allegedly in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine and 98 capsules of suspected fentanyl.

Sheriff Steven Pelton said the investigation with his office and the Washington Police Department began this month.

Washington Police received information about drug distribution from the residence, which is located in the 100 block of Rand Street.

Investigators allege that Ward was dealing narcotics from the residence, along with other locations throughout the county.

A search warrant was issued for his residence on Jan. 25.

Detectives served a search warrant at the Rand Street home and seized three ounces of meth, cash, digital scales and a large bag of empty capsules.

Ward was arrested for an existing St. Louis warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

Additional charges are pending.

Ward is currently on probation for resisting arrest.

“I want to thank the Washington Police Department for their assistance with the case,” Pelton said. “It is the commitment of the sheriff’s office and the chiefs of this county to work together to ensure the safety of our citizens.”
