Two Seriously Injured In Head-On Collision On Highway 185

A head-on collision Saturday on Highway 185 left two drivers with severe injuries.

The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. near Moss Oak Road.

The collision involved a 2011 Ford Fusion and a 1997 Ford Explorer.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver of the Ford Fusion, a 51-year-old man from Sullivan, was heading north on Highway 185 when his vehicle crossed the centerline. The front of the Fusion struck a southbound Ford Explorer driven by a 57-year-old man from Pacific. The impact forced the Explorer off the right side of the road, where it collided with several mailboxes.

The Sullivan man was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for treatment of his injuries. The driver from Pacific was transported by Washington County Ambulance to the same hospital. Both drivers sustained serious injuries in the crash.

It is unknown whether they were wearing seat belts.
