Teen Firefighter Killed Responding To Water Rescue
A Beaufort teen was killed while responding to a water rescue call Friday afternoon in Franklin County.
Chevy Gall, 16, was a volunteer firefighter for the Beaufort-Leslie Fire Protection District.
“Tonight is a fire chief’s worst nightmare," said Terry Feth, chief of the Beaufort-Leslie Fire Protection District. "We are heartbroken by the loss of one of our own. Chevy died while answering the call to help others. Our entire department is grieving, as we mourn with Chevy’s family, friends, and our fellow first responders during this incredibly difficult time.”
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Gall was traveling in a 2006 Kia Optima around 4:11 p.m. when he crossed the center line and struck the front of a 2023 Ram Cargo Van, driven by a 30-year-old Arnold man.
Gall was pronounced dead at 5:07 p.m. at Mercy Hospital.
The Arnold man had minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
