SWAT Team Executes Search Warrant At Sullivan Apartment Complex

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and SWAT team executed a search warrant at an apartment complex on East Springfield Road in Sullivan on Sept. 10, as part of an active investigation. Authorities arrived at the scene shortly after 9 a.m. and swiftly gained entry to one of the apartments in the complex.

Witnesses reported seeing a white male being taken into custody in handcuffs following the SWAT team’s entry. Deputies were later seen removing several electronic devices from the residence, believed to be connected to the investigation.

Local law enforcement, including the Sullivan Police Department, remained at the location for several hours.

Sources indicated the search was an investigation into child pornography.

Franklin County Sheriff Steve Pelton told the Independent News on Sept. 16 that the operation is part of an ongoing investigation but declined to provide further details. 

"Due to wanting to protect the integrity of this investigation, I just can’t comment at this time,” Pelton stated.
