Sullivan Police Report No Incidents Halloween Night
Sullivan Police Chief Patrick Johnson was pleased to report that the Sullivan Police Department had no issues Halloween night or weekend, Saturday, October 30 and Sunday October 31.
In fact the department recorded no vandalism incidents, no driving while intoxicated or impaired arrests and all registered sex offenders were properly home during Halloween.
“Everything was extremely peaceful during Halloween and we want to express our appreciation to our citizens and young people for making it a very peaceful Halloween,” said Chief Johnson. “We were able to also conduct our registered sex offender compliance checks for Halloween and they registered offenders were home, porch lights off and signs on their doors stating no candy here.”
Chief Johnson stated that the Sullivan community has had many consecutive years without any serious incidents during Halloween and he plans to see that continue well into the future.
“We had extra patrols out on city streets and in neighborhoods making sure that the laws were being followed and checking on safety of children out trick or treating,” said Chief Johnson. “We also were able to participate in the Sullivan Chamber of Commerce Spooktacular event in downtown Sullivan Friday afternoon where we had very few issues. There were a few motorists that drove around barricades but those were mostly customers that had went inside businesses prior to the event beginning at 3:30.”
