Sullivan Police Enforcement Increased This Holiday Weekend

The Sullivan Police Department will be conducting additional patrols this Memorial Day weekend, enforcing impaired drivers and hazardous moving violations.

According to Sullivan Police Chief Patrick Johnson, the department wants to ensure the public that they will have extra officers out on patrol the keep residents safe during the holiday weekend.

Many other agencies are stepping up enforcement and ask motorists to be alert with the added traffic on area roadways.

Johnson encouraged residents and motorists to make sure they have a designated driver, wear a seatbelt and keep their eyes on the roadway and not on their cell phones while driving.

Distracted driving has become an ever increasing problem nationwide and with the unofficial kickoff to summer, construction in many areas and increased traffic drivers need to remain vigilant.

The Sullivan Police Department wants everyone to have a fun but safe holiday weekend.
