Sullivan Man Faces Domestic Assault Charges

According to the Frankliin County Sheriff's Office on March 8, 2021 Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Montgomery Circle in Sullivan for a domestic assault. A female caller reported she was being assaulted by a male prior to disconnecting from 911. Sullivan Police Department officers responded to assist with the incident.

Upon arrival deputies made contact with a male subject in the yard. He appeared agitated and refused to cooperate. A deputy located a 20 year old female hiding inside the home and upon contact, she appeared frightened. Deputies observed multiple bruises on her face and arms. Deputies were familiar with the couple from prior domestic incidents. She told the deputy she had been in an argument and it went bad, but she would not elaborate further.

Based on evidence learned by the deputies, the male was arrested for domestic assault. He was transported without incident.

An arrest warrant was issued for the male suspect, identified as Justin R. Wegener, age 21 of Sullivan. He was charged with Domestic Assault 3rd degree. Bond was set at $75,000.

All people are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
