Sullivan Man Charged In Road Rage Incident
A Sullivan man has been charged after he allegedly brandished a firearm during a road rage incident Aug. 17.
Mark W. Rupp, 63, faces counts of unlawful use of a weapon, fourth-degree assault and operating a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner.
Rupp was released on bond.
According to the probable cause statement, Rupp was involved in a road rage incident, claiming that the victim cut him off in traffic and brake checked him.
Rupp allegedly followed the victim eastbound on the North Service Road to Pine Ridge Drive where the victim stated that he was stopped due to an unrelated vehicle in front of him making a turn.
Rupp passed the victim on the left, striking his vehicle while cutting him off.
The probable cause statement says Rupp “got out of his vehicle with a loaded firearm in his hand” and ordered the victim out of the vehicle. The victim called for law enforcement to respond.
Rupp was jailed Aug. 21 at the Franklin County Adult Detention Center and held on $25,000 bond.
Rupp will appear in court Thursday, Sept. 7.
