Sullivan Man Arrested Over Alleged Domestic Assault
On Sunday, January 26, around 3 p.m., Franklin County Deputies were alerted to a Domestic Disturbance in progress in the 300 block of Country Club Bluffs in Washington. Franklin County 911 dispatchers were told that the victim had fallen and struck his head.
Upon deputies' arrival, the victim was found outside vomiting and with visible head injuries. He was taken to the hospital by Washington Ambulance personnel.
A witness on scene alleged that the victim had been laying on the couch when the suspect - Thomas Eckert, 29, Sullivan - began “pestering” him, which led to a verbal and an outdoor physical fight. The suspect is alleged to have lifted the victim to then slam him headfirst into the ground.
When questioned, Eckert alleges that he was “messing” with the victim while he was sleeping on the couch. He allegedly admitted to the verbal and physical fight, though claimed to deputies that he didn’t remember what happened during the altercation.
Eckert was placed under arrest for 2nd Degree Domestic Assault and transported to the Franklin County Detention Facility, where he has been issued no bond.
