Sullivan, Bourbon Firefighters Save Mobile Home On Division Street
Sullivan Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire at a mobile home Sunday, Aug. 21, at 249 Division St., following a report of smoke coming from the home.
According to Sullivan Fire Chief Eric Lewis, firefighters responded to the residence and discovered light smoke coming from the front bedroom of the home at 10:29 a.m..
“Firefighters made entry into the home and started fighting the fire and did a primary and secondary search of the home without anyone being located,” said Lewis. “Other firefighters began ventiliation and another crew conducted a third search of the home with nothing located. Later, it was determined, that the occupants were safe at a neighbors home.”
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time as the occupants reported to Sullivan Fire that there was a faulty outlet in the bedroom where a fan was plugged in but not running at the time of the fire.
“The area of the fire was in the front bedroom,” said Chief Lewis. “This is where most of the fire damage occurred. The location of the outlet is consistent with the burn damage in the room but the cause will remain undetermined because we are unable to rule out electrical as a cause.”
The fire was brought under control by ten Sullivan Firefighters with assistance from three Bourbon firefighters.
