Steelville Woman Charged With Assaulting Juvenile
A Steelville woman faces felony charges after she allegedly assaulted a juvenile Nov. 25.
She faces one count of abuse or neglect of a child and one count of third-degree assault.
The woman, who had active warrants from the Sullivan Police Department, allegedly slammed the juvenile into a bedroom door and assaulted another person at the scene.
The woman was wanted by the Sullivan Police for an incident March 14, 2021.
She was the passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by an officer.
While the officer went to check on her warrant status, she fled from the vehicle.
She was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. She was allegedly in possession of a bag of methamphetamine.
Police say they gave her multiple opportunities “to advise officers of the illegal substance in her possession.”
The woman was wanted for stealing, along with a Crawford County warrant for possession of a controlled substance in 2020.
