Steelville Woman, Boy, Rolla Woman Fatally Injured

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has updated its report on a crash that killed three people Aug. 10 on Interstate 44 between Sullivan and Stanton.

The patrol said a 2021 Freightliner, 2018 Freightliner, 2017 Nissan Sentra and 2008 Toyota Avalon were stopped in traffic.

Dalwinder Singh, 25, Merced, Calif., failed to stop in a 2022 Freightliner, crashing into the Avalon and Sentra. 

The Avalon was driven by Bailey N. Snider, 25, Rolla. The Sentra was driven by Chelsea L. Smith, 32, Steelville.

Snider, Smith and her son, Emmett, 5, Steelville, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Brian. K. Brown, 27, Indianapolis, Ind., was driving the 2021 Freightliner. He had minor injuries.

Komal Sharma, 39, Ontario, Canada, was driving the 2018 Freightliner. He was uninjured.

All occupants were wearing seat belts.

Three people, including a 5-year-old boy, had fatal injuries Saturday night in a crash on Interstate 44 between Sullivan and Stanton.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Chelsea L. Smith, 32, Steelville, Bailey N. Snider, 25, Rolla, and a 5-year-old boy from Steelville were pronounced at the scene.

The patrol said five vehicles were involved. 

Around 9:31 p.m. a a 2021 Freightliner, a 2018 Freightliner and a 2008 Toyota Avalon were stopped in traffic.

A 2022 Freightliner, driven by Dalwinder Singh, 25, Merced, Calif., struck the Avalon, driven by Snider. 

A 2017 Nissan Sentra, driven by Smith, struck Singh’s Freightliner.

The juvenile was a passenger in Smith’s vehicle.

Brian K. Brown, 27, Indianapolis, Ind., was driving the 2021 Freightliner. He had minor injuries.

Komal Sharma, 39, Ontario, Canada, was driving the 2018 Freightliner and was uninjured.

All occupants were wearing seat belts.
