St. Louis Man Killed In Accident On Interstate 44 In Franklin County

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a St. Louis man was killed Monday in a crash on Interstate 44 in Franklin County.

The accident occurred at 4:42 p.m. at the 243 mile marker.

According to the report, a 2018 International Harvester driven by Dean Alsup, 71, Jackson, was stopped in the right lane due to another crash.

A 2015 Chrysler Town and Country driven by Belayneh B. Lakew, 62, St. Louis, struck the rear right side of the Harvester’s towed unit.

Lakew was pronounced dead at 4:50 p.m.

He was not wearing a safety device.
