St. Clair Man Charged With Fleeing Stop, Unlawful Gun Possession
A St. Clair man was taken into custody Feb. 10 after he attempted to flee law enforcement while unlawfully possessing a weapon.
Brandon L. Coyle, born 1997, faces one count of unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.
Coyle passed a Franklin County sheriff’s deputy in St. Clair with no working license plate lights.
The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but Coyle allegedly continued on. He drove onto Interstate 44 and continued ignoring the deputy, who had emergency lights activated.
Coyle finally got off at the 253 mile-marker exit and law enforcement partially blocked him.
He was removed from his vehicle and a handgun magazine fell from his waist.
Coyle refused answering if he had a gun on him.
A holster was located around his stomach area.
Coyle allegedly told his passenger to hold onto the firearm so he wouldn’t get caught with it.
The passenger told the deputy Coyle owned the gun and it was the reason he didn’t stop.
Coyle, who has been convicted of assault, also has a revoked/suspended driver’s license.
