Sex Offender Accused Of Loitering At State Park With Drugs

A Leasburg man convicted for rape and currently listed on the state’s sex offender registry has been charged after allegedly loitering while being in possession of drugs at Meramec State Park in August.

Kevin M. Ziegler, 54, faces one count of being a sex offender loitering within 500 feet of a park with a playground, pool or museum.

Ziegler also was allegedly in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine and mushrooms.

Charges have not been filed as the Missouri State Highway Patrol is testing the substances to confirm.

The probable cause statement said Ziegler was parked and facing 150 feet from a playground on Aug. 18. 

Ziegler was convicted in 1993 for rape.
