Residents Seeks Street Improvements On Bon Oaks
The Sullivan City Council met in open session on Monday, June 19, with four requests before them, which included a request from Shelby Blankenship seeking street and water flow improvements on Bon Oaks Drive.
The council approved a request from Sullivan Chamber of Commerce to hold the Dinner on Main event once again on September 21, from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Sullivan Screamin’ Eagles March Band received approval to once again host their marching festival on Saturday, September 23. This will be the 36th Annual Marching Band Festival.
Sue Koch, 4-H Livestock Chair of the Meramec Community Fair, addressed the council seeking permission to construct a 24’ by 36’ multipurpose room at the cattle barn on the fairgrounds that will have a livestock program office, cooling/first-aid station, meeting room and storage.
The council approved the matter unanimously, adding that the future study of the parks system will also be considered regarding this project.
The cost will be covered by the livestock program.
Blankenship requested the city consider improvements to Bon Oaks, which has problems with drainage and vehicles dragging into their driveway.
The street improvements were discussed for future budgets, along with cost sharing programs with the city to help speed up some improvements in the neighborhood.
The council approved the payment of the monthly bills in the amount of $1,777,779.14.
The council did hold a closed session to discuss one matter of real estate with no action being taken.
The council did approve the hiring of Zachary White to the Sullivan Water and Sewer Department as a semi-skilled laborer.
