Parole Absconder With Lengthy Conviction History Arrested
A man wanted on charges going back to 2020 was arrested Jan. 28 in Cuba.
Nathan Schroeder, 42, had outstanding warrants, which included two times where he failed to register as a sex offender and second-degree burglary.
Crawford County sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Cuba Police Department attempted to arrest Schroeder, who fled. After a short foot pursuit, he was caught and taken to jail.
Schroeder received seven years of probation in March 2022 for failing to register as a sex offender.
He was convicted in March 2009 of second-degree statutory sodomy with a 10-year-old female.
Schroeder was convicted of failure to register in 2017, along with guilty pleas for receiving stolen property in 2004 and distribution of a controlled substance in 2016.
Schroeder is accused of breaking into a home on Libhart Road in Cuba on Sept. 15, 2020.
In the probable cause statement, Schroeder allegedly said he did not believe he was doing anything wrong and was just looking around the house “to see if it was properly built.”
Schroeder allegedly had items on his person that were taken from the home.
Schroeder was released on a summons.
The charge was filed against him in 2022.
Schroeder also had a failure to register charge filed against him last year, which stems from 2021.
In April 2021, Schroeder attempted to register near Tangle Creek Park in Cuba, but after being informed of the proximity, registered at his mother’s house on Highway F.
On May 4, 2021, a deputy stopped in for a compliance check and learned that Schroeder was not allowed on the property.
The camper he told the deputy he was staying in was uninhabitable and unused for years.
Two days later, Schroeder was arrested.
