New Haven Man Charged After Toddler Overdoses

A New Haven man has been charged after a toddler overdosed on fentanyl.

Dean W. Lockhart, 28, faces one count of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

The probable cause statement alleges that on Sept. 6, a 3-year-old was found not breathing when deputies arrived on scene in the 100 block of Hickory Street.

The child was given Narcan and taken to Mercy Hospital where fentanyl was discovered in his system.

Lockhart was in sole care of the child and admitted the fentanyl pills belonged to him. He allegedly got high at 5:30 a.m., just before the child was left in his custody.
