Man Drowns in Washington County

A Fenton man lost his life following a drowning in a private pond on Saturday, August 14, at 7:28 a.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred in a private pond off Baugher Town Road when Richard M. Totsch, 67, Fenton, operating a 1999 Tracker 12 and Dennis J. Breitenstein, 74, Fenton, both leaned over the side of the boat and both fell into the water.
Breitenstein attempted to swim to shore and was observed going under the water and never resurfaced.
Breitenstein was pronounced deceased at 8:58 a.m. by Washington County Coroner Steve Hatfield.
