Man Caught On Surveillance Beating Motel Employees Unconscious

A St. Louis man is accused of attacking employees at the Super 8 Motel in St. Clair on Nov. 3, leaving two unconscious.

Louis J. Finocchio, 37, has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and resisting/interfering with arrest.

Finocchio had previously listed as a missing adult by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Missing Persons Clearinghouse.

Officers were looking for Finocchio earlier in the day for a wellbeing check.

No contact had been made with him since Nov. 14.

The probable cause statement said that surveillance video showed Finocchio “mercilessly” beating two housekeepers — one male and one female —without provocation.

He punched both in the face as they were lying on the floor and attacked them each time he saw them move.

Finocchio also kicked both victims in the face several times.

He dragged the victims into his room.

The male victim appeared to be unconscious. He grabbed the female victim, threw her on her back, kicked her in the face and pulled her towards his room.

Finocchio was seen on another camera breaking into the register and removing money from the check-in desk.

The victims were found in the bathroom, which was reportedly covered in a large amount of blood.

Both had severe facial bruising and could barely open their eyes.

The St. Clair Police Department said Dec. 4 the female victim was in critical condition and the male in critical, but stable condition.

Police arrived on scene to find Finocchio in the motel lobby. He was reportedly agitated and and “sweating profusely.”

Finocchio said officers were “out to get him.”

When he was asked why his hands were swollen and covered in blood, he said he cut his foot.

Police went to take him into custody, but he ran out of the lobby and into the parking lot.

He was struck with a taser, but didn’t go down.

Finocchio was later found with assistance from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

He is being held without bond.
