Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening Neighbor With Firearm In Villa Ridge

A man is facing charges after allegedly threatening a victim with a firearm in an unprovoked confrontation Oct. 1 in Villa Ridge.

Kelly G. Wileman, Jr., of Robertsville, has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon, fourth-degree assault and peace disturbance.

According to the probable cause statement, the incident occurred around 12:07 p.m. when Wileman entered the property of the victim in the 500 block of Court Dorothy Lane.

Wileman allegedly confronted the victim, pointing a black firearm at his head while shouting threats. Witnesses heard the confrontation and one witness reportedly saw Wileman pointing the gun at the victim

The victim attempted to defend himself and suffered a minor injury during the altercation. Wileman reportedly yelled that he would "choke out" the victim if he did not retreat into his home.

Wileman was later located at his own residence and, after being read his Miranda rights, admitted to a disturbance but denied involvement with any firearms. He claimed not to own any guns, and none were initially found in a voluntary search of his vehicle.

However, authorities secured a search warrant for Wileman’s home, where they discovered four firearms and a significant amount of ammunition. One of the seized firearms matched the description given by M.H. and was test-fired, functioning as expected.

Wileman is being held without bond.
