Grandview Man Drowns After Watercraft Capsizes On Lake

Twelve people have perished on Missouri’s waterways following a drowning Thursday morning in Jackson County.

Randall Bray, 69, Grandview, fell into Unity Village Lake after the watercraft he was in capsized around 8:30 a.m.

Bray did not resurface.

His body was recovered around 5:30 p.m.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Bray, who was not wearing a life jacket, was the occupant on an unknown 10-foot watercraft driven by Bruce Butler, 76, Independence.

Butler stood up in the vessel, which caused it to capsize. Bray then went overboard.

Butler swam to the shore.
