Forgery Charge Filed Against Jailed Sullivan Man

A Sullivan man currently incarcerated under child pornography charges now faces a charge for forgery.

Robert T. Byrd, 47, was indicted by a Franklin County grand jury in February. 

A grand jury on April 9 indicted Byrd for being an accessory to forgery.

The indictment ays that on April 4, 2023, Byrd and another person used a Western Union money order for $500, “knowing it had been made completed so that it purported to have been made with different terms.”

Along with the child pornography and forgery, Byrd has other charges he faces.

He is charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon. The crimes allegedly occurred July 7, 2022.

Byrd also stands accused of possession of a controlled substance after being arrested May 10, 2023.

Byrd is accused of uploading child pornography and beastality videos on Dec. 7, 2021 under the online pseudonym “elusivecracker.” Byrd’s email address is “elusivecracker1488@yahoo.com.”

Byrd has previous convictions in Florida for forgery and grand theft.

He was convicted in Missouri in 1997 for stealing. 

Byrd’s attorney Travis Martin motioned to reduce his bond on March 4, but Judge Ryan Helfrich rejected it.

Helfrich’s decision was the result of Byrd’s pending offenses, several which occurred while on bond, including possessing a firearm.

“Based on all factors…particularly Defendant’s criminal history spanning (more than) 20 years, Defendant’s failure to appear history, Defandant’s continued accrual of new criminal charges and the nature of the underlying offenses, the oral motion to reduce and/or amend bond is denied at this time,” Helfrich wrote.

Byrd is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, April 16.
