Firefighters Battle Garage Fire Wednesday Morning

A garage, Ford truck, tools, work bench and several other items were lost following a fire in a detached garage Wednesday morning, December 28, at 12:03 a.m.

Sullivan Firefighters responded to the scene following a 911 call that a detached garage, close to the residence, was on fire and residents have evacuated the home.

Firefighters arrived to find the garage fully involved with fire at 12:13 a.m. and approximately 10 ft. from the main residence.

According to the report, firefighters determined the garage was 30’ by 30’ with a truck inside along with a number of tools, work benches, propane tanks and auto parts.

Captain Raymond Enloe reported, “We were able to extinguish the fire and contain the fire to the detached garage without any damages to the home that was about ten feet away from the garage. After the fire was extinguished, we continued to cool and extinguish hot spots, until there was no steam rising from the remains.”

Firefighters investigated the cause of the fire but due to the amount of damage they were unable to determine a cause.

Firefighters cleared the scene of the fire at 1:38 a.m.
