Filing Complete For April 5 Election
Filing for the April 5, 2022 election was completed on Tuesday, December 28, with races in City of Sullivan, Sullivan and Spring Bluff School Boards and many uncontested races.
In the City of Sullivan only one contested race will take place on the ballot as incumbent Alderman Paul McCulloch will be challenged by former Sullivan Police Chief George R. Counts. Counts retired on September 11, 2021 from the department.
Incumbents Ward One Alderman Dr. Mark A. Dalton, appointed Alderman Chris Bunk-seeking one year unexpired term, and Alderman Ward Two, Jason Alexander will all run unopposed.
Oak Grove Village has only two candidates to seek election with incumbent Pam Campbell and Sandra Paul seeking re-election; Village of West Sullivan has incumbents Jim Turntine and Carly Griggs running unopposed and Village of Miramogoua has three candidates seeking office for three positions with Board President Tine Lawrence, Michael Schinner and Teri Knowes all seeking office.
Sullivan Fire Protection District had one candidate file for the six year term with incumbent Chris Garner running unopposed.
Sullivan School District has three candidates seeking two-three year terms on the Board of Education with incumbents Robbie Berti and Randy Stack seeking re-election and James Bartle filing for the office.
Spring Bluff School District has five candidates seeking the two positions on the Board of Education which includes incumbent Jim Goodman, Maggie Reinhold, Jordan Tod, Jacob Lambert and Kurtis Reed.
Strain Japan School has three candidates seeking three positions on the Board of Education that include: Matthew Stewart, Justin Williamson and Kari Schatz. Williamson is seeking the two year unexpired term due to a board member moving out of the district.
