County Man Appears in Court On Several Charges, Including Kidnapping, Burglary
hostage and threatened a murder-suicide Nov. 7 in Grubville.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Lost Bluff Trail.
Koenig allegedly forced his way into an ex-girlfriend’s home and held her hostage.
When deputies arrived, she reported Koenig grabbed her by the throat and pushed her against a wall after forcing entry.
The victim said Koenig pulled out a gun and held it to his own head. She was able to escape the home and went to a nearby residence to call 911.
Koenig, who had active warrants for his arrest, was contacted by authorities.
Due to his violent actions, the Franklin County SWAT team was activated.
They attempted to get Koenig to peacefully surrender for several hours.
A search warrant was obtained to enter the home.
Koenig had barricaded himself within a bedroom of the home.
Tactical team members successfully breached the home and took Koenig into custody without further incident.
The firearm he allegedly used to threaten the victim was located in the room where he was found.
The gun had been stolen from the St. Louis area.
