Construction Began Tuesday On Highway C Bridge
The long-awaited construction of a one-lane bridge over the Little Bourbeuse River on Highway C began Tuesday.
Work could last up to three months.
Motorists are advised to use Highway 19 between Cuba and Highway C and Interstate 44 between Bourbon and Cuba for detours during construction.
Motorists will be unable to access Argo Road and other points north without using detour routes.
Gershenson Construction was awarded the bid by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission at a cost of $677,273.10.
MoDOT began removing the existing bridge on Tuesday.
Widening the bridge has long been sought after by the Crawford County Commission. The project was repeatedly submitted through the Meramec Regional Planning Commission’s Transportation Advisory Committee.
In December 2018, the project was accepted as a top priority.
The bridge moved into the State Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP) in 2019.
