Woman Assaults Victim, Steals Car

A Crawford County woman is accused of assaulting a victim and stealing their car.

Suede Desire Steinhauer, 34, Cherryville, has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle and third-degree assault.

According to the probable cause statement, the victim was found lying in the ditch in the Steelville area on June 13 around 5:21 p.m.

The victim said they were in the vehicle with Steinhauer and they began arguing. Steinhauer allegedly struck the victim multiple times with a closed hand.

The victim got out of the vehicle and Steinhauer drove away in it.

Steinhauer was eventually stopped by the deputy. She denied assaulting the victim and said she was given permission to take the vehicle.

Multiple witnesses on scene disputed that.

Steinhauer was held on a $20,000 bond.
