Sex Offender Arrested At Steelville’s Freedom Fest

A Steelville woman who is a registered sex offender was arrested July 4 while hanging out at Steelville’s Freedom Fest.

Tammy E. Arnold, 53, has been charged with being a sex offender within 500 feet of a park with a playground or pool.

It’s the second time Arnold has been arrested this year related to her sex offender status.

Arnold was one of five people arrested by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office in February during a compliance check.

She had allegedly failed to update the information on her registration and had an active warrant for stealing.

Arnold has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to the sheriff’s office, Arnold was walking in the area of the basketball and tennis courts during the Freedom Fest.

Arnold, whose sex offender status is known to officers, was observed and taken to the Crawford County Jail without incident.

Arnold had an ankle monitor. The monitor is activated through a local bail bonds company. The bondsman told police her location could not be determined because the device wasn’t charged.

Four GPS violation reports were filed against Arnold in June.

Arnold’s status stems from a guilty conviction for child endangerment in 2009.
