Ray Pleads Guilty To Tampering With Evidence, Abandoning Corpse
A Steelville man on Monday pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and abandoning a corpse.
Eric Ray, 51, was sentenced to 120-day shock incarceration by Judge Michael Randazzo.
Ray hid the evidence in the murder of Albert Terry Barton on June 7.
Barton was murdered by Beau Dyer, 21, the mother of his child. Dyer was convicted in early November.
She received a combined 30-year sentence for second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
Dyer fatally shot Barton and left his body on McCormick Road. He was missing for nearly three weeks before his body was discovered June 30.
Ray was involved with Dyer. Dyer told Ray she shot Barton and Ray went where his body was located, removing his phone and hiding it under a low water crossing.
