MRPC Seeks Public Input for Regional Roadway Safety Plan

The Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) is inviting residents from eight central Missouri counties to weigh in on roadway safety as it develops a comprehensive transportation safety action plan. The initiative is part of the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program, funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Residents of Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski, and Washington counties are encouraged to complete a brief online survey specific to their county. The surveys aim to gather feedback on how people travel in their communities and what safety concerns they encounter on local roads.

“Participating in the SS4A survey is crucial for the public because it directly impacts the safety and effectiveness of transportation infrastructure in each of our communities,” said MRPC Planning Manager Anne Freand.

The SS4A program, launched in 2022, supports local and regional efforts to reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries. MRPC received the federal planning grant in 2023 and is currently developing a draft Safety Action Plan for the Meramec Region. The draft is expected by the end of 2025, with the final plan slated for submission in March 2026.
