Man Who Fired Gun At Passerby Due In Court
A Bourbon man who fired a gun at a motorist driving by his house is due in court May 30.
Charles Hendon, 59, allegedly shot a gun at a victim driving by his house on March 22.
Hendon was set to appear in court on May 9, but the hearing was continued and rescheduled.
Hendon faces charges for armed criminal action and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon — shooting at person/motor vehicle and intoxicated with a loaded weapon.
The probable cause statement alleges Hendon blew a .08 on the breathalyzer test.
The victim told law enforcement that they were driving to a residence on Christy Mine Road when Hendon flipped them off.
The victim flipped Hendon off.
Hendon allegedly grabbed a gun and shot it towards the victim.
A Crawford County sheriff’s deputy investigated, observing a handgun holstered on Hendon’s hip.
Hendon went into his home and when the deputy knocked on his door, answered without the gun.
The deputy alleged that Hendon was holding a can of beer. He had glassy, bloodshot eyes.
He showed the deputy the gun, but said he had not fired it in several days.
Hendon claimed he threw a firecracker at the victim. He then threatened to find the victim “and whoop their (expletive) back to the city.”
Hendon was arrested March 25 and released on a surety bond on April 5.
