Inmate Dies At Crawford County Jail

On July 17, 2024, at approximately 1345 hours, staff members at the Crawford County Adult Detention Facility were conducting routine checks and discovered an inmate in medical distress in a holding cell. 

The inmate was awake and speaking to staff before losing consciousness. Immediate life-saving assistance was provided by staff and emergency medical services were called to the scene. 

Despite the efforts of our staff and EMS, the inmate was pronounced deceased at our facility.  

The name of the deceased party is not being released at this time to allow for the next of kin notifications. 

In accordance with protocol, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Division of Drug and Crime Control with the Missouri State Highway Patrol for investigation in conjunction with the Crawford County Coroner’s Office.
