County Enters Into TEAP Over Dangerous Intersection

Crawford County commissioners on Aug. 13 voted to enter into the Traffic Engineering Assistance Program (TEAP).

TEAP is part of the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and provides funds for studying traffic issues.

MoDOT has allocated $18,000 to study the intersection at Lindberg Road and Highway 19, which has a crash history.

The county is chipping in $3,000 — $1,500 from each road district.

Adding a left turn lane to the intersection has been considered the county’s top transportation priority since 2021.

During the end-of-year Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting in 2023, the project was selected as “high priority” among the Meramec Regional Planning Commission’s eight-county region.

Typical traffic engineering related projects include:  corridor safety and/or operational analysis, intersection(s) safety and/or operational analysis, speed limit review, sign inventory, pedestrian/bike route analysis, ADA transition plans, parking issues, and other traffic studies, etc.

This program call will award a total of $120,000 in TEAP funds to local public agencies.  Agencies are reimbursed for eligible project costs at a rate of 80 percent, up to $12,000 per project, with the local agency providing a minimum 20 percent match.  If the total project cost is greater than $15,000, the local agency will be responsible for any project's costs exceeding $12,000.  Awarded projects must be completed by May 23, 2025.
