CCSD, Compass Approved For Opioid Requests

The Crawford County Commission has signed off on a pair of requests from the Opioid Fund Disbursement.

Compass Health received $10,290, which can be a quarterly amount.

According to minutes from the June 18 meeting, it will be granted again contingent on “measurable results” in the program.

The commission also approved a $17,000 grant to the Crawford County to restart the K9 program.

A request from the coroner’s office for $10,493.75 was submitted to the county’s OFD board, but it was not approved.

The county still has more than $141,000 left in the account.

The deadline for the first round of funding was in May, headed up by the five-member OFD board.

The board consists of chairman William Harlan, vice chair Mike Lovell, secretary Denise Mueller, commission liaison Richard “Jax” Jensen and Dennis Roedemeier.

The board must recommend projects that focus on treatment, prevention or other opioid reduction strategies.

Crawford County’s focus is on areas of transportation, child and family support services, housing, prevention education, re-entry service, support groups, law enforcement and first responders.

The Meramec Regional Planning Commission is assisting the board, ensuring each project falls under the guidelines established by the state.

Missouri created the Opioid Addiction Treatment and Recovery Fund in 2020 to receive funds from a national settlement.

The deadline for the next round of funding is Aug. 20.

OFD members will meet Sept. 3 to review the projects and make their recommendations to the commission.

The board will meet again Dec. 3 and March 4, 2025.

Those interested in applying can receive an application by contacting the Crawford County Opioid Fund Disbursement Board Chairperson William Harlan at williamharlan99@gmail.com or Secretary Denise Mueller at dmuel747@gmail.com

. The application will be made available online in the near future. The Crawford County Opioid Fund Disbursement Board will collect all proposals, score applications and make recommendation of funding approval or denial. The Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) will review projects selected by the committee for completeness and ensure that activities proposed are eligible under Exhibit E/Schedule B – Approved Uses for Opioid Remediation. MRPC will submit all committee-selected projects and committee funding recommendations to the Crawford County Commission, along with its administrative review information, for the county to make funding decisions and disburse funds. The Crawford County Commission, who is the recipient of the funds, will make final determination on approval and disbursement.
