Sheriff Warns Residents About COVID-19 Website Scam

Franklin County Sheriff Steven Pelton is warning citizens about a new scam going around that contains a link to a malicious website pretending to contain a map of Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases around the world. 

The fake website (corona-virus-map[dot]com) actually contains an AZORult Trojan that will steal information, including sensitive data.

"It is unfortunate that thieves will try to take advantage of people in a time that we are in," Pelton said. "As a reminder be careful opening attachments on email or through social media."
