Sullivan Teen Charged In Hammer Attack Scheduled For Court Appearance
A Sullivan teen accused of attacking a woman with a hammer at Midwest Petroleum in February is scheduled for a court appearance Thursday.
Peter Leonard, 18, had a preliminary hearing scheduled on March 24 that was continued to Thursday.
Leonard is scheduled to appear before Judge Patrick Horsefield.
He remains in custody at the Crawford County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Leonard faces one count of first-degree assault, armed criminal action and resisting/interfering with arrest.
The incident occurred Feb. 17 around 5:23 p.m.
Leonard was allegedly threatening to break the windows of the building.
As police arrived on scene, they were informed that a woman had been attacked.
Witnesses identified him as the man who had been threatening to break the windows.
Leonard tried to run away, but was eventually stopped and taken into custody.
The victim was found on the floor behind the counter, with a trail of blood 20 feet long starting where she was attacked.
She suffered a laceration and had a lump on her forehead. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.
