Leasburg Man Faces Multiple Charges Following Pursuit
A Leasburg man has been charged after he led authorities on a pursuit April 29 throughout Bourbon and Leasburg.
Travis Ensor, 31, has been charged with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and nine misdemeanor traffic offenses.
During the investigation, troopers located a stolen ATV.
Ensor is being held at the Crawford County Jail.
Online court records show that Ensor pleaded guilty May 3 to stealing and second-degree burglary stemming from a January 2020 incident.
Ensor also has charges against him for unlawful possession of a firearm and stealing in April 2021.
Ensor has been on probation due to charges for stealing in Franklin County.
According to the probable cause statement, a pursuit began around 10:32 a.m. on April 29.
Ensor was traveling north on Highway H at 95 mph in a 35 mph zone.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper tried to initiate a traffic stop, but Ensor accelerated even higher.
He turned onto Fletcher Road, then back onto Highway H.
Ensor began performing illegal and unsafe passes and nearly struck a vehicle head-on.
The pursuit was terminated due.
At 10:37 a.m., Ensor was observed traveling north on Old Springfield Road in Bourbon.
The trooper attempted another traffic stop, but Ensor accelerated again.
The pursuit continued into the Bourbon city limits, but was again terminated.
The probable cause statement said someone called about the driver, who was near Bourbon High School on Old Highway 66.
The trooper went in that direction and noticed tire marks on Old Springfield Road. The probable cause statement says the trooper followed the roadway evidence for approximately eight miles. Several people said they had observed Ensor traveling at a high rate of speed.
At 11:04 a.m., troopers located the truck on Old Leasburg Road.
The resident who lived there said Ensor left the truck behind and his wife picked him up.
While searching the property, troopers found an ATV that had been stolen March 18.
The resident was asked where it came from and said she had seen Ensor riding it on multiple occasions.
Another trooper had met with Ensor’s wife at her place of work. His wife said he was ready to surrender.
Ensor was taken into custody without incident.
