Crawford County Sales Tax Rose 6.9%

Crawford County’s general revenue sales tax rose 6.9% year-over-year in July.

The county collected $270,326.46, which was up from $252,654.04 in July 2021.

It’s also up from $191,786.96 in July 2020 and $117,711.59 in July 2019.

The sales tax has posted year-over-year gains the last two months after taking a dip in May.

In June, the county collected $197,731.48. That was up 3% from June 2021 when collection was $191,927.21.

February and May are the only two months in 2022 when the county hasn’t had a year-over-year increase.

Collection was up 21% in December and 11% in January before bad weather in February brought it down 20% in February.

Spending bounced back in March with a 36% gain. It continued in April with a 21% increase

In May, the county saw a 5% dip.

Through 2022, the county has brought in $1,714,126.07.

At this point in 2021, the county had collected $1,596,068.23.

Crawford County collected more than $2.5 million in sales tax last year.

It surpassed the $2.4 million that was brought in during 2020, itself a record.

The separate law enforcement and capital improvement sales taxes also saw gains in July.

They were up 15% year-over-year, bringing in $134,832.72.

It’s up from $117,099.50 in July 2021.

The two taxes have brought in more than $824,000 so far this year.
