County Sales Tax Up 3% Year-Over-Year

Crawford County’s general revenue sales tax rose 3% year-over-year in July.

The county collected $197,731.48, up from $191,927.21 in 2021.

Through the first seven months of 2022, the county has collected $1,443,799.61.

With five months of collection left, the county is a little more than $1.1 million shy of matching 2021’s total.

Last year, the county collected more than $2.5 million.

Crawford County’s sales tax has been up year-over-year in every month but two so far this year.

It was down 20% in March, which reflected a snowy February.

Collection was down 5% in June.

In the other months, it has soared above 2021 totals.

It was up 21% in January and 11% in February.

After falling in March, it was up 36% in April and 21% in May.

The county has had four months where the totals surpassed $200,000 — January, April, May and June.

The law enforcement and capital improvement sales taxes are separate taxes.

Both taxes were up a little more than 3% in July, reversing a 6% decline in June.

The taxes generated more than $94,000 for each fund.

That is up from more than $91,000 in 2021.

The county has brought more than $689,000 for each fund so far in 2022.

In 2021, the total was $1.2 million.
