CCR-I Board Moves Forward With First Bond Projects

The Crawford County R-I School Board took the first formal steps last month to begin work tied to the $8 million bond issue voters approved in April.

During its May 19 meeting, the board unanimously approved the bond resolution needed to issue the district’s Series 2026 general obligation school building bonds. 

The resolution authorizes the sale and delivery of the bonds and sets up the process for collecting the tax revenue needed to repay them.

Board members also approved moving forward with the elementary and middle school roofing project, including preparation of bid documents and solicitation of bids. 

The project was added to the agenda after the original posting because of ongoing roof leaks and storm-related damage affecting district facilities.

That roofing work is expected to be one of the first visible projects from the bond issue.

The board also approved two proposals connected to the planned high school front entrance and parking lot expansion. THD Design Group will provide geotechnical subsurface exploration services for the site, while Archer-Elgin will provide land survey services.

Those steps do not authorize construction yet, but they begin the groundwork needed before the district can move further into design and bidding.
