Bourbon School Board Receives Governance Award

The Crawford County R-1 School Board was presented Thursday with the Governance Team Award through the Missouri School Boards Association. 

It is the fourth year in a row the board has been recognized. Only six districts have received it four straight years.

Cheri Schuette, a member of the Cuba School Board and MSBA, presented the award to the board during its monthly meeting.

The award recognizes school boards and their superintendents for their commitment to continuous improvement through ongoing professional development, regional and statewide leadership and active participation in legislative advocacy for public schools and the students they serve.

To achieve the award, the must be accredited and a member of MSBA; all seven board members must have completed MSBA CBM Essential training for new board members and the MSBA annual refresher training; at least two board members have achieved Advanced certification (Stephen Waldron and Jason Gobin); at least one board member has achieved Master certification and Distinguished certification (Waldron); at least a quorum of the board and superintendent have attended the 2021 MSBA annual conference; at least three board members and the superintendent attended the 2022 spring regional meeting; a representative attended the 2022 MSBA legislative forum and a member participated in at least one MSBA delegate assembly.

All seven members have exceeded the required training hours, with a combined total of 283.

In 2022, only 14 districts received the award.
