Bourbon Man Charged With Resisting Arrest

Charges have been filed against a Bourbon man who evaded the highway patrol in May 2020.

Alex Goddard, 34, faces one count of resisting arrest and two misdemeanor counts of careless and imprudent driving and driving at least 26 mph over the speed limit.

A warrant was issued Feb. 22 and Goddard has been released on bond.

Goddard’s vehicle went through a barbed-wire fence and into a field where it was abandoned east of the Landers Trailer Park.

It was centered on several downed trees.

The highway patrol said the vehicle smelled “strongly” of intoxicants and there were empty bottles in and around.

Troopers initiated a pursuit of Goddard May 21, 2020 around 9:58 p.m.

Goddard was stopped at an intersection and the trooper said he began waving “violently” at another driver to turn at the intersection of Highway 185 and the South Outer Road.

Goddard allegedly trailed the vehicle by fewer than three feet and was repeatedly honking.

When the other vehicle turned into a gas station, Goddard rapidly accelerated his vehicle.

The trooper clocked his speed at 68 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Goddard came to a stop at the intersection of Highway D. The trooper turned on his lights and Goddard allegedly accelerated.

A pursuit began with Goddard reaching speeds up to 100 mph on the South Service Road.

Goddard turned south onto Landers Road, turned left, traveled off the gravel road and went through a fence.

The trooper followed the vehicle’s path on foot where it was abandoned.

The highway patrol contacted Goddard’s girlfriend, who said he had been staying at her residence.

The trooper spoke to Goddard, who was uncooperative and appeared to have an altered mental state.

Around midnight, a search warrant was issued for Goddard’s arrest and it was executed at almost 1 a.m.

Troopers searched the entire property for Goddard, who was not located.
