Bourbon Man Charged With Domestic Assault

A Bourbon man has been charged with domestic assault after he allegedly got physical with his girlfriend.

Alexander P. Remotti is being held at the Crawford County Jail.

According to the probable cause statement, deputies arrived at the scene and made contact with the alleged victim, who stated that she and her boyfriend, identified as Alexander Remotti, had been arguing. She told officers that Remotti had taken her phone and left the scene approximately 10 to 15 minutes before law enforcement arrived.

Shortly after deputies arrived, Remotti returned. He was advised of his Miranda rights, which he acknowledged and understood. Remotti admitted to arguing with the victim but denied striking her. He stated that during their dispute, he became upset and struck his truck, which he said caused the blood observed on his right hand.

The victim described escalating tensions throughout the evening. She stated that while on a drive to Sullivan, she and Remotti were arguing, and the situation worsened upon returning home. She alleged that Remotti forcibly pulled her back into the truck when she attempted to exit. She also stated that he took her phone, preventing her from calling for help.

She stated that after the argument, she attempted to leave with their dog but was told by Remotti to get back in the vehicle. She refused, saying she did not feel safe or trust him.

Further statements from the victim indicated that earlier in the evening, during an argument about ice on the windshield and the condition of their home, Remotti had allegedly slapped her in the back of the head and pulled her hair to get her through a doorway. She initially downplayed her injuries, suggesting they could have resulted from work-related incidents or running into a door earlier in the day. However, officers observed a red mark and a developing bruise on her forehead, which she later suggested may have been caused when Remotti pulled her hair and his hand struck her head.

When questioned further, Remotti continued to deny striking the victim. He stated he did not recall hitting her and suggested he may have smoked more marijuana than he realized.

The victim expressed fear for her safety, stating that if Remotti were released, she believed he would kill or harm her.

Remotti was taken into custody and transported to the Crawford County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending further investigation.
