2024-25 School Year Begins Aug. 20

The 2024-2025 school year begins for the Crawford County R-1 School District on Tuesday, Aug. 20 and concludes on May 23, 2025.

In accordance with the four-day calendar that was passed three years ago, there are 146 full days and 1,082.83 hours of instruction.

CCR-1 has scheduled 13 teacher professional development days, which will be held one Monday per month.

As part of the four-day calendar, students do not typically go to school on Mondays, though some are built into the schedule.

Winter break is scheduled for December 23 through January 6.

Graduation is scheduled for May 22, 2025.

The school board has set its 2024-25 meeting schedule, the first of which will be July 18.

Board members meet again Aug. 22 to pass the tax levy.

There are new administrative hires for the upcoming school year.

After nine years as the Bourbon Middle School principal, Brian Witt was announced earlier this year as the new high school principal.

Former BHS principal Matt Peregoy was hired as an assistant superintendent at the Sullivan School District.

Nicole McPeters has been hired to replace Witt at the middle school.

Cassandra Haar has been elevated into an administration role as the curriculum director.

A press release earlier this year said Haar will work in conjunction with teachers and administrators to ensure the curriculum is aligned with state standards.
